Campaign from Full Punch is a rallying cry to the community to keep donations and patients in Surrey

Every day, Surrey loses patients to surrounding hospitals instead of being treated at its facilities. While the talent and level of care are immense, hospital facilities across Surrey are struggling to keep up with the diversity of needs and health challenges facing its growing population. As a result, many patients leave Surrey for treatment.

The 'Keep it in Surrey' campaign is an emotional plea to keep donations, and therefore patients in Surrey. The campaign's launch video begins with concerned doctors pushing an urgent care patient down a hospital hallway. Rather than treating the patient at Surrey's facility, the patient is put into an ambulance. The doctors look on with desperation and disappointment as the ambulance pulls away, leaving Surrey for another regional hospital.

Commenting on work, founding Full Punch partner, head of creative Chris Zawada, says, "Seeing a patient at that moment of care sent to another region pulls on the heartstrings. This shouldn't happen anywhere, especially in a great city like Surrey."

Surrey is the only city of its size in Canada without an Emergency Department (ED) funded to treat the three leading causes of sudden death: heart attack, stroke and trauma. Furthermore, despite having BC's highest birth rate, Surrey has only gained four new maternity beds over the past 21 years. There's a big gap in care that needs to be filled, and it will take the unstoppable generosity of the community to pull together to fill it.

"This campaign is about using the transformative power of philanthropy and voluntarism to champion equitable health care for Surrey residents and all British Columbians living South of the Fraser", says Jane Adams, president and CEO of Surrey Hospitals Foundation.

Additional videos are currently in production along with print, OOH, digital and social that round out the campaign. Media is handled by Mediaology.
