This year for the first time the SuperBowl (Feb.13th) falls the day before Valentine’s Day (Feb.14th). Stop & Shop does not want shoppers to let the Big Game overshadow the Big Day. So they’re encouraging their shoppers to pregame for Valentine’s Day and start celebrating the week before.
McKinney, Stop & Shop’s creative and lead agency of record (AOR), saw an opportunity with the two events happening back-to-back this year and is launching a campaign speaking to shoppers and encouraging them to plan ahead as grocery stores play a large role in both events.
The 15 and six second ads offer a humorous angle, uncommon to the grocery category, featuring a male and female point of view reminding viewers to shop early for Valentine’s day.
Both ads open on a closeup of a football fan surrounded by snacks (chips, pretzels, dip etc.) speaking about the important week and how viewers can make it special by getting ahead and “Pre-Gam[ing] for Valentine’s Day at Stop & Shop.
The spot launches January 31st through February 13th, 2022 and targets shoppers in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts.
The spot will be featured on social & digital media and Stop & Shop will also have in-store displays.
