Soundtree celebrated at this week’s Young Arrows Awards, as composer Ben Jones took home an Original Composition Gold award for Monzo ‘Money Never Felt Like Monzo'. Honouring the best work from emerging talent in the UK moving image advertising industry, the awards were held in London’s HERE at Outernet and hosted by Reggie Yates.
Delivered by Uncommon Creative Studio, the ad features a series of comparisons, contrasting the stress of traditional money management with the pleasure of digital banking with Monzo. A tarantula turns into a head massager, a wilting flower becomes a blossoming bouquet, and a screaming match relaxes into a loving embrace, perfectly complemented by Ben’s winning original composition shifting between grungy and angelic sounds. The transitions of the visuals and score gradually speed up and intensify to a sudden stop in the final scene: a man lazing on a sunlounger while a relaxing tropical melody plays.
Ben Jones commented, “What a huge honour it was to be awarded a Young Arrows Gold for my work on Monzo! Truly an unreal evening shared with so many special people in our industry. And a special thank you to Soundtree’s Luke Fabia [senior composer / music producer], Luis Almau [head of music / composer], Neil Athale [senior producer], and Jack Patterson [sound designer] for helping on this great project.”
