Sky Broadband and Sky TV Launch The Day of the Jackal Game Mode in Fortnite

Players can compete to become the Jackal as Sky City, powered by Sky Broadband, continues to push Sky Broadband’s brand ambition

Sky Broadband announces the latest update of Sky City, a custom-built world powered by Sky Broadband and created in Fortnite, will be in partnership with the forthcoming Sky Original series The Day of the Jackal. Following the first the successful launch earlier this year (150k+ total lifetime plays), the updated ‘Become the Jackal’ mode invites players to compete to become the Jackal in this thrilling new addition to the Sky City Map (map code 9674-9752-334). The campaign will feature organic social media across Sky Broadband and Sky TV alongside an influencer campaign with some of the gamers that have already logged high scores since the map was originally launched. The Jackal x Fortnite trailer asset will also feature in a dedicated Jackal takeover rail within the Sky TV UI. All of the creative and Jackal inputs have been inspired and informed by the show and its associated marketing strategy. The partnership between Sky Broadband and Sky TV to align a gaming experience with a highly anticipated TV series once again demonstrates Sky Broadband’s innovative approach to brand building as it continues in its ambition to authentically reach a key gaming audience in their native environment. As players join the Sky City lobby they will be presented with truly authentic Jackal-themed messages directing players of how to become the Jackal without disrupting or overshadowing the core gameplay. As with the original Sky City it is a free-for-all, but with a twist. The Jackal x Fortnite update means those wanting to become the Jackal will need to locate three collectible items. Once a player collects all three items, they become the Jackal and are teleported to the Jackal’s lair where they will be able to collect their preferred, enhanced weapons and a variety of other perks. The Jackal then re-enters Sky City where they become the assassin and players are alerted that a Jackal is on the loose. Once the Jackal has re-entered, other players are incentivised to come together to take them down before the Jackal gets to them first.
