Papa Murphy’s, the largest Take ‘n’ Bake Pizza brand in the US, is bringing back its Triple Pepp Pizza. The product was originally launched in 2020 and is back by popular demand for a limited time through October 16, 2022.
But what makes this product launch particularly special is that its demand, in part, was driven by superfans like Evan Arnold. The Eagle Mountain, Utah resident was so passionate about the product that he took to social media to lament the end of Triple Pepp Pizza’s original run in May 2020 with posts such as, “I binge watched the Triple Pepp before you canceled it. We didn’t even get a season finale.”
The folks at Papa Murphy’s and its creative agency, TMA, took notice. And so, in addition to Evan’s wish coming true, they have put him at the center of a local Utah market campaign. On Wednesday, August 31, all Salt Lake City, Utah residents named Evan will be eligible to receive a free Triple Pepp Pizza in honor of the brand’s superfan if they purchase another item in the store. In addition, Evan, to his surprise, will be brought to his hometown Papa Murphy’s store in Saratoga Springs, Utah, where he will receive a $1,000 Papa Murphy’s gift card, so he can eat Triple Pepp to his heart’s content.
The effort is being supported by a local teaser outdoor advertising effort, created by TMA, and reflects the influence of social media and social listening as a source for creative marketing inspiration and ideas.
“When Triple Pepp first launched in 2020, it was an instant hit, which is why we’re beyond excited to bring it back,” said Tracey Ayres, Vice President of Brand and Innovation for Papa Murphy’s. “We are listening and we care about our fans, and no fan was more vocal about Triple Pepp than our ‘superfan’ Evan Arnold. We’re delighted to award Evan with the special title of “Papa Pepp” to celebrate its return.”
