In recognition of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Awareness Month, Samsung Canada unveiled SmartThings x ADHD, a resourceful online hub to showcase how the innovative features of its SmartThings application and technology can offer daily support for the 1.8 million Canadians living with ADHD [1] .
Inspired by the insight that ADHD diagnoses increased during the pandemic [2] , and with the shift into hybrid and remote work, there has been a significant increase in Canadian adults seeking assessments and treatment services [3] , Samsung Canada forged a new partnership with the ADHD experts from the Possibilities Clinic to help adults with the condition.
The new website reveals key moments throughout the day where Samsung’s SmartThings app and connected technology can help improve routines, increase productivity, enhance creativity, and more, for Canadians living with ADHD.
“At Samsung, the wellbeing of Canadians and the communities we live in is critical to how we operate,” says Tafari Jilany, senior director corporate marketing, Samsung Canada. “Adult ADHD diagnoses are on the rise in Canada and we’re proud to contribute and bring to life an innovative and smart home solution to help those living with neurodivergent challenges simplify their day.”
Designed and developed by Track, the central hub and supporting social and CRM campaign highlights common ADHD symptoms and easy ways those living with the disorder can enhance their well-being and improve some symptoms via technology.
“Despite so many Canadians living with neurodivergent challenges, there is no representation in the technology space,” says Kari King, executive creative director, Track. “We recognised an opportunity to raise consumer awareness for Samsung’s dedication to inclusive content while demonstrating how the SmartThings app and technology can simplify daily living.”
The website’s unique UX design is supportive of those with ADHD, including an innovative toggle function that allows the viewer to select a text-rich or visually rich experience, depending on what works best for their needs. The hub features a wealth of helpful resources for users to apply day to day, including creating a morning routine in the SmartThings app, automating basic tasks, activating focus mode to limit distractions, getting reminders and automations for keeping track of important items and passing time.
To raise awareness for the initiative, generate engagement with ADHD content and drive traffic to the hub, cross-channel content is running on Samsung Canada’s Instagram and Facebook channels throughout the month of October as well as tailored email communications to its one-to-one database. The Possibilities Clinic is also supporting the hub via blog posts and social content.
As the lead agency responsible for the overall strategy and creative development, Track collaborated with Cheil on the web build, and North Strategic is supporting the campaign through public relations.
