Rob Chiu has created his third main title sequence for Mexican Festival ‘OFFF’. This time, taking the established genre a step further, he has created a full, live action, narrative driven short film.
The film was shot in Mexico City over three days with non-actors and produced with help from Mexican collective Cocolab. Combining the urban aesthetic of the city with beautiful compositing by Parisian post house Night Shift, the film explores the story of six coming of age friends at the end of the world. Anyone familiar with Chiu’s short film output will recognise the ominous, foreboding tones.
The titles were screened at the OFFF Mexico City 2012 event, where Chiu also held a workshop with attendees. Chiu’s previous film work for OFFF includes the title sequence for OFFF New York and an eerie macro-lens look at sea life for OFFF Lisbon.
