Following the SIREN team’s recent jaunt over to San Francisco to attend GDC (Game Developers Conference) we thought the best way to get in a humble brag and stick with the theme would be to put together a playlist of some of our favourite music used in video games… so here we are!
In 2022, it’ll be hard to find someone who hasn’t engaged in some sort of video game in their time, and as technology develops, we’re experiencing some of the most immersive gaming experiences to date. Whether that be through classic Console gaming, PC, Virtual reality or Mobile, the gaming industry is truly thriving more than ever before. In turn, this has meant original soundtracks for games have become more prevalent and sophisticated over the years..
We want to showcase tracks written for video games from the '90s, all the way to modern day, that we see as either nostalgic, culturally important, ground breaking, or just straight up fun. The importance of music in gaming cannot be overlooked. Music helps set the scene, build a storyline, and guide emotions as the player makes their way through whatever world they’re in, and these are some tracks that we feel capture the essence of that. So, get your headsets on, recline your chair, and enjoy the sounds of these video game classics.
