Pulse films welcomes multi-award-winning director Andzej Gavriss to its global roster for commercials and music video representation.
Andzej's work is powerful, emotive and fearless, connecting an incredible appetite for experimental filmmaking, always combining beautiful craft with hard-hitting, meaningful storytelling.
Andzej is originally from Latvia, where he graduated from the University of Audio-Visual Arts in 2015. Since then, his work has been showcased at institutions like The Centre Pompidou, Panorama Berlin, and Brown University, only to name a few.
Andzej gained global attention in 2022 for his We Will Become Better, an LGBTQIA+ PSA advocating for gay rights in Russia, which won two Cannes Lions. He followed this success with the epic Christmas short No Going Back for World of Tanks in 2023, starring Vinnie Jones. His portfolio includes campaigns for brands like Aldi and the UNHCR agency, as well as music videos for artists such as James Arthur, Sansara, KORN, and AIGEL.
His thought-provoking films have earned him industry recognition, including D&AD Pencils, a Grand Prize at the CLIOs, UKMVAs, a Gold for Director of the Year at the Shots Awards, and Best Cinematography at Camerimage, among others. Now based between LA and Berlin, Andzej continues to direct global projects that explore themes of immigration and belonging, all while staying deeply connected to his roots.
Andzej commented, “I’ve always been drawn to filmmaking that challenges conventions - whether through narrative, visuals, or emotions. From my first conversations with the Pulse team, it was clear they champion uncompromising work. Their ambition and creative spirit completely align with mine, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead."
"Andzej is a rising star in the industry," remarked Mino Jarjoura, president of the newly created vice commercials and branded entertainment. "His work is fearless and infused with a strong energy. His ability to blend striking visuals with universal themes like family and identity makes his films unforgettable. We can’t wait to see what he does next."
