Platige Image Co-Creates VFX for Apple TV Plus and Paramount Production’s ‘Time Bandits’

Platige Image is responsible for post-production and the creation of numerous VFX shots in the latest Apple TV Plus production – "Time Bandits." The co-creator and executive producer of the series is Taika Waititi.

"Time Bandits" is a 10 episode comedy-adventure series, adapted from the cult family film from 1981, directed by Terry Gilliam. The premiere of the television version is scheduled for July 24th. The series tells the story of "an unpredictable journey through time and space with a group of thieves and their new recruit – an 11-year-old history enthusiast named Kevin," as announced by Apple TV Plus.

"The same VFX producer, Will Reece, collaborated on the production of the earlier 'Witcher' and today's 'Time Bandits'" said Magdalena Rudnicka, VFX producer at Platige Image. "Thanks to the excellent relationships and fruitful cooperation on three seasons of 'The Witcher,' we had the opportunity to be part of this new production, which was quite a challenge", she added.

"Time Bandits" take viewers to epic moments in history: from the construction of Stonehenge, through the siege of Troy with the Trojan horse, escaping from dinosaurs in prehistoric times, to the chaos in medieval Cairo and the Ice Age. So, the scope for digital special effects creators was enormous," recalled Magdalena.

According to its creators, the series boasts many comedic strengths, including Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris as executive producers and Taika Waititi as co-creator and executive producer. The cast includes Lisa Kudrow, young Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Charlyne Yi, and Roger Nsengiyumva.
