In a week that brought about political protests, musical comebacks and the first ever algorithm to be signed to a record label (yes, really!), we were also spoilt for choice with a bunch of new music. With some real heavy hitters such as Tame Impala and Missy Elliott making a welcome return to our speakers, we already know that the week ahead is shaping up to be a good one.

Change by Mavis Staples 

Ahead of her 80th birthday, music legend Mavis Staples released this track from her upcoming album. Collaborating with Ben Harper, this politically charged track speaks volumes given the climate we are currently living in.

Tempo (feat. Missy Elliott) by Lizzo

A collaboration that we’re surprised took this long to come about, Missy Elliott - arguably the Queen of carefree Hip Hop - teams up with rising star Lizzo on this ode to body positivity, confidence and dance.

Patience by Tame Impala

Another welcome return, Tame Impala are back with their first single after four years and they’re really on top form. With their quintessential sound, there’s no mistaking that this is Kevin Parker at his finest.

Starry Night by Peggy Gou

The first release from her very own label, Gudu Records, P&S fave Peggy Gou proves yet again why she is one of the world’s most in demand DJs on this infectious track.

Malembe by KOKOKO!

Speaking of infectious, the latest release from Kinshasa collective KOKOKO! is raw and refreshing with the perfect amount of groove to start the week.
