In a week filled with non-stop music news, from Glastonbury line up announcements to SXSW, it’s been a real mishmash of sounds here at Pitch & Sync. From 80’s influenced Italian electro pop to iconic surf rock, this week’s list covers a fair bit of ground considering it’s only comprised of 5 songs. It was a tough one narrowing down our list but we really feel that this week starts to scratch the surface of the breath of our musical tastes.
No Quit by Michael Nau
With much of the music industry flocking to Austin last week, you can forgive us for feeling a bit solemn whilst stuck in windy Blighty. Fortunately, this chill and warm track from Michael Nau gives us the feel that we’re cruising along in the hot Texas sun.
Ballare by Mind Enterprises
Italian DJ and producer Mind Enterprises pays homage to ESG’s ‘Dance’ in this retro track. Given the title means ‘dance’ in Italian, it’s no surprise that this track keeps us endlessly shuffling at our desks.
No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish by Skinny Pelembe
Written on the day he moved to London, Skinny Pelembe doesn’t hold back, rebuking the prejudices that many still face in Britain today. Striking and powerful from start to finish.
Come Back to Me by Art School Girlfriend
A stunning and intimate track that is said to be about yearning and desire by Art School Girlfriend herself. Somewhat of a sensual start to the week.
Misirlou by Dick Dale
Dubbed the ‘King of Surf Rock’, Dick Dale unfortunately passed away last week so we thought it proper to include this quintessential track. A rock ‘n roll pioneer, he defined the sound of a generation.
