Octopus Inc’s director and photographer Kino proudly presents his latest collection of photographic images, in association with the charity Build Change, produced by WaterBear Network.
Kino, a Nikon brand ambassador, visited a region of the Philippines struck by a devastating typhoon where many homes were destroyed. During his stay Kino captured poignant moments of the families affected, documenting their lives and how they have since utilised the space with the help of the charity Build Change, who had come to their aid.
The images uncovered many stories and were selected and exhibited at the Averted Disaster Awards 2022. The World Bank intends to circulate the exhibition for the next five years at significant Climate Change panel discussions.
Kino says, “I had the privilege of being commissioned by The World Bank and Nikon to document the lives of three families residing in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. My approach to this assignment was to create authentic portraits that would transport the audience to where I captured the images and make them feel a part of the experience.
The portraits I captured left an indelible mark on my life. The resilience and strength of the families in the face of adversity were inspiring, and it reaffirmed my belief in the power of photography to document human experiences.”
