Pescanova, the leading seafood brand, surprises the Spaniards again by bringing back the ‘Bald guy’ of Christmas past as the star of their ‘Choose the Moustache’ campaign. After shaving football legend Vicente del Bosque’s moustache last Christmas, Pescanova brings back the Christmas icon most loved by Spaniards, but this time he has a moustache.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without moustaches
The campaign is inspired by the values and emotions that infuse the classic Christmas season; but with the touch of humour that characterises Pescanova. The beloved ‘bald guy’ returns with a moustache, which represents the prawns that are synonymous with the quality of Pescanova – the ones with their whiskers intact, (also known as Rodolfos).
Bring the ‘bald guy’ back!
This year Pescanova engaged the public by asking them who they wanted back this Christmas. They answered loud and clear. Of the study conducted with 2,000 people, 3 out of every 4 made the ‘bald guy’ their first choice.
Juan Viñas, marketing director of Pescanova, says: “We were looking for a Christmas icon for our next campaign and it was key for us to take the pulse of Spaniards and find out what iconic Christmas character had to be brought back. This study allowed us to connect with people, who also demanded humour and values in our campaigns. We listened and took action. We wanted to surprise again with a lot of freshness and humour, like we did in 2018 and what better way than to bring back Spain’s favourite icon to share his magic and high quality prawns, the ones with moustaches, of course.”
The Rodolfos are prawns characterised by unsurpassed texture and flavor, thanks to a meticulous and unique elaboration process. The Rodolfos are selected one by one, cooked and packaged, preserving their total integrity with their long and intact whiskers being the guarantee of their quality.
