As the sun scorched the land, Palace Skateboards and adidas collaborate to scorch the streetwear landscape with a refreshing new drop titled, SunPal.
In the new commercial, which was produced and post produced by MPC, Palace team rider Heitor Da Silva showcases the new collection as well his remarkable helmsmanship, as he sails the signature SunPal yacht singlehandedly from Brazil to Norway. Like the spirit of a legendary albatross, Heitor is sonically accompanied on his journey by Joy Orbison’s ‘Hyph Mngo’ soundtrack.
Shot on the high seas in August 2020 while high on hand sanitiser and pirate style face masks. The project was live action produced and account managed directly with the brand by MPC’s Johnny Blick and Richard Skinner with colour and post also by MPC.
Johnny Blick, senior producer commented: “Shooting during partial Covid-19 lockdown makes for interesting times. Navigating through all the insurance and legal protocols is big a challenge, and with experience gained getting more familiar. But that’s nothing compared to a challenging shoot with 12 crew, three boats, two skateboarders, one drone, wind, tides and a single day to get an entire film shot. By lunchtime I was hoping for either a mutiny or to be lost at sea.”
Richard Skinner, head of creative development commented: “Sure, we can shoot in lockdown. Sure, we can shoot Plymouth to look like the Tropics. No problem. Shoot in ten day’s time, you say? No problem.”
Palace in collaboration with adidas once again boarded the good ship MPC and the result was a force 10 gale of success.
