Chicago-based production and post house Optimus and New York-based Nice Shoes have entered into an alliance to form Nice Shoes at Optimus in Chicago and provide Optimus with a presence in New York. Led by Colorist Ron Sudul, who will be starting Sept. 15, Nice Shoes at Optimus brings the expertise of the industry leading color shop to Chicago.
“We were thrilled to start a Remote Color partnership with Nice Shoes earlier this year,” said Optimus Partner/President Tom Duff. “Now, we are forming an even stronger alliance by giving each other physical presences in Chicago and New York. Optimus and Nice Shoes are such strong and respected brands, and we have maintained a longstanding mutual admiration for each other. Ron will be a great fit both personally and professionally. He’s our kind of guy, even if he is a lifetime New Yorker from Long Island!”
“We've wanted to establish a presence in Chicago for years, and we couldn’t think of a better way to do so than with Ron heading there to lead Nice Shoes at Optimus,” said Nice Shoes Partner/CEO Dominic Pandolfino. “We’re looking forward to partnering with Optimus in New York as well, bringing together two of the great creative brands in our industry.”
A part of Nice Shoes since its inception, Sudul is responsible for a range of memorable spots for noted brands, including AT&T, McDonald’s, Givenchy, IBM, UPS, GE, Starbucks, Toyota, MTV, Food Network and Chase. He has collaborated on numerous projects with superstar artists Kanye West, M.I.A. and Beyoncé, having graded a number of videos from the singer’s innovative “Visual Album.”
“I knew from my first trip to Optimus that the culture there was a great fit for Nice Shoes,” said Sudul. “We have an opportunity to elevate the Optimus reputation even further with onsite world-class color capabilities from Nice Shoes. I’m going to miss New York pizza, but I’m looking forward to working with Tom and the stellar talent in Chicago.”
