The former McCann Worldgroup Southeast Asia exec returns to UK to drive growth across CRM, CX and Creative Commerce

MRM has announced that Nick Handel has been appointed to the role of chief executive officer for MRM UK. His appointment comes after his nearly 15 years of service at McCann Worldgroup in Asia-Pacific, with his most recent position being managing director, MRM Asia Pacific. MRM is a creative relationship marketing agency committed to delivering enduring relationships for brands across CRM, CX, and Creative Commerce.

At MRM UK, Nick will be tasked with broadening the agency’s CRM and Creative Commerce capabilities while further leveraging its CX strengths, which have been consistently recognised by the industry.

As president of McCann Worldgroup Southeast Asia, Nick led teams across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand, spanning four agencies: MRM, McCann, CRAFT, and Hedy. Under his leadership, the group stewarded many global brands, such as Loreal, Microsoft, and Ferrero, and consistently garnered industry acclaim, including an unrivaled 10+ years of Agency of the Year award recognition: CRM & Loyalty Agency of the Year (Singapore); Creative Agency of the Year (Singapore); Integrated Agency of the Year (Southeast Asia); Digital Agency of the Year (Singapore); and B2B Agency of the Year (Southeast Asia). Nick will be succeeded by Brandon Cheung, who will assume leadership for McCann Worldgroup APAC.

On his appointment, Nick Handel said, “MRM is laser-focused on returning to its roots in CRM, while continuing to lead in CX and Creative Commerce. These capabilities have been key growth drivers for our clients in APAC, and the opportunities in the UK market are equally as abundant and compelling. I’m very excited to return home to London to work closely with our team and our clients.”

MRM’s global CEO, Grant Theron, said, “Nick’s a highly capable leader and especially well positioned for this moment and role: he’s consistently delivered results for our clients and for our business throughout his career at MRM, and he’s poised to make an immediate impact for us in the UK.”

Nick’s new role is effective from 1 May and his move to London is a return home to where his career first began. Prior to his nearly 15 years at MRM, Nick served as regional director for Leo Burnett in Asia Pacific. Before that, he held positions at CX Lavender in New Zealand as well as Saatchi & Saatchi in London.
