The 2021 NFL Season was its biggest season yet! For the first time-ever the NFL season featured 17 regular season games that included: high-scoring, unpredictable, competitive matchups and featured outstanding performances from generational stars and emerging talent alike!
With Super Bowl LVI held at SoFi Stadium just blocks away from Hollywood, the NFL used movie magic to end the season with an epic bring-down-the-house celebration. Made in partnership with creative agency 72andSunny Los Angeles, the NFL reminds all about the joy that comes from the game of football. Utilising a true blockbuster blueprint, they enlisted renowned director, Peter Berg (creator of the epic ‘100-Year-Game’) and worked alongside film and television production studio, Swaybox to bring to life a new medium of storytelling by blending real world puppetry and human physicality with proprietary compositing technology.
Through this cutting-edge technology combined with a new innovative approach for the NFL, 'Bring Down the House' is both inclusive and emblematic of football’s expansive influence on American culture—leaning into the next generation of fans and forward-thinking technology. Featuring a young brother/sister duo (played by real life siblings Gabriel and Kapri Ladd), the spot is centred around the siblings' experience with the NFL’s past and it’s present.
“Emblematic of the exciting and unexpected game of football, our spot brings together the NFL’s past, present, and future through a totally new innovative approach,” said NFL EVP and chief marketing officer, Tim Ellis. “We ended this season with an epic bring-down-the-house celebration, and for the first time ever, we brought 25 NFL Legends and current players to life through never-before-seen immersive 3D technology.”
“What better way to end an incredible season with a game for the ages. And that game most certainly has to end with Walter Payton scoring a touchdown on Super Bowl Sunday,” said Zach Hilder, executive creative director, 72andSunny Los Angeles.
Airing during halftime and right before the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, the 2-minute spot, featured a cast of 25 NFL legends, present players, referees, coaches and announcers in a video game format:
Earlier this week, the NFL and Roblox announced the launch of NFL Tycoon to engage the next generation of NFL football fans in the Metaverse. As the first official major sports league to offer a persistent experience on Roblox, a global platform bringing millions of people together through shared experiences, the NFL featured 'Destruction House' an interactive event inspired by 'Bring Down the House' within the work.
