On the 16th March 2012, Sam Waley-Cohen and his horse, ‘Long Run’ will race in the Blue Riband event of Jump Racing, the Cheltenham Gold Cup. If he succeeds he will become the first amateur in the history of the sport to win it twice and one of only a handful of jockeys ever to have won it back to back.
For the last year Alfred Dunhill have been making a short film about Sam Waley-Cohen and Long Run entitled "For the Love".
Starting with his victory at the Gold Cup in 2011 the film follows Sam through his season at Cheltenham, Haydock, Kempton, Newbury and numerous point to points, and is the story of the amateur who achieved what is impossible in almost every other sport.
Alfred Dunhill have shot it as a cinematic documentary with the goal to tell the story beautifully. The film features interviews with Sir Peter O'Sullevan, AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh and the trailer is available to watch on their YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/alfreddunhill
