FMLY CRTV‘s Ben Brook directs the latest music video for No Rome out on Dirty Hit.
Drawing on themes of faith, technology, nature, surveillance and mass-consumerism - Ben harnesses the emerging power of AI to develop visuals constantly growing and collapsing throughout the film. The video for Brother is a vignette of an imagined dystopia, captured largely through screens as Rome navigates these issues amidst the visuals of a society spiralling.
Ben Brook said: “We essentially made three videos. One entirely of archive and AI visuals, another of performance, and a third which recaptured the first two played back on screens across multiple locations. It was quite a laborious process but I think the resulting edit captures that overwhelming sensation, flitting between all of these societal observations.
Working with Rome and Dirty Hit on this was a privilege – they were really accommodating of the idea and process from the start. The whole crew put a big shift in to pull this together, we were quite a small team and had so much to capture so it was a dream to see it all take shape on the day. Special mention to Emma Cain at FMLY, the art department for nailing the tone and Connor at ETC for grading each scene and each screen within separately.”
