Polish, Wrocław based band, Mikromusic invited director Michał Misiński and Juice Visual Effects Studio to create a music video for the song ‘Łajka’ from their newest album ‘Kraksa’. With the deep roots in Wrocław, Poland, and a long, successful relationship with Mikromusic it was clear the Juice team wanted to support musicians for whom this town has a special place in their hearts.
While creating a world of an unknown land, it is crucial to form a clear vision. The Polish director Michał Misiński creates a minimal, yet captivating world of alien landscapes where open spaces contrast with the inner world. His vision of the story behind ‘Łajka’, the first animal to orbit the Earth, is a metaphor for the relationships and the fragility of lives. “I wanted to show how crucial we are for each other, and at the same time, how easy we can lose loved ones. I was lucky here, I got creative freedom, and this is how I picture the words of Łajka. It’s the story of humankind, it’s the story of all of us.” – said Michał Misiński.
The true story of Łajka, a stray dog selected to be the occupant of the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2 raises a lot of moral questions. Natalia Grosiak, vocalist and lyricist of Mikromusic said: “Let’s face it, this is a song about animal abuse, but thanks to the video created by Michał and Juice, it has gained an additional layer of meaning. And I’m very pleased to watch the world Michał saw behind my words"
In the post production process, Juice replaced 75 environmental shots and took care of grading. The actual shooting took place in an old polish mine – Łomianki.
