As Microsoft celebrates its 50th Anniversary, the company has partnered with full-service film production company and creative agency, Panay Films, to launch a campaign, ‘Be the Pilot’, that showcases the power of its AI assistant, Microsoft Copilot.
The series of films, directed by Walt Becker, shows how the Copilot app helps individuals and companies alike to turn ideas into stunning visuals, simplify complex information, and refine writing – while staying firmly in the driving seat.
The films emphasise how accessible and secure the technology is, as well as its ability to remember users’ preferences and interests.
In scenarios like preparing for a test, planning a business pitch, re-writing a recipe and discovering new information about a particular subject, the campaign shows Copilot empowering people to achieve a variety of different goals.
“Be the Pilot is designed to speak to achievers and dreamers who know that success isn’t about sticking to a script,” said Andrew Panay, founder and CEO at Panay Films. “It’s about writing a new one."
"The campaign is cheeky, clever, and has a tone of its own. We think it fits nicely with the technology, which empowers people to be whoever they want and the pilot of their own lives,” he added.
The spots also show off the new M365 Copilot Chat feature and how the technology can be integrated across the entire Microsoft suite – including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Chat and email – to amplify capabilities while maintaining creative control.
This campaign launched in the US on April 10th, and will air later in April in the UK, with a paid media mix that includes CTV spots, paid digital, paid search, and paid social.
