Agency strengthens commitment to digital content creation

MEC, a leading media agency today announces its commitment to expanding content creation and distribution capabilities with the appointment of Jamie Toward to Head of Content.

The appointment of Toward highlights how MEC is addressing the changing mix of Owned, Earned and Paid media and aligning its content development and distribution capabilities closer to its digital teams to amplify the delivery of engaging online campaigns. Reporting into Stuart Bowden, Joint CEO, Toward will be tasked with supporting the agency’s clients through the complex transformations that are occurring in digital customer experiences. Bringing together content creation and digital engagement, Chantal Rickards and Nick Dobson will report into Toward as he looks to align all aspects of content creation into one integrated team.

Toward will be working closely with MEC’s Organic Performance, Digital Engagement and Digital Planning teams, to look at how content origination and commissioning will fit together with the emerging need for combined organic and paid distribution strategies for clients. Additionally he will be developing solutions that help clients capitalise on MEC’s capability and experience in making content that drives SEO, whilst providing a compelling positive experience for their customers.

Toward brings with him nearly 20 years of digital and content marketing experience having previously developed websites, VOD channels, apps, games and magazines as part of communication strategies for clients including Virgin Media, Barclays, BT, Royal Mail and Fujitsu.

To further strengthen MEC’s commitment to developing a content led approach with clients, the agency has joined the Content Marketing Association (CMA). The membership will allow MEC to work together with other members to develop increasingly sophisticated content marketing solutions that ensure data driven insight, effective distribution strategies and accurate measurement are recognised as being as important in those solutions as the great work that content creators produce. The membership also ensures that MEC has a voice at the heart of the evolution of content marketing and will assist in shaping the direction of the industry.

Jamie Toward, Head of Content at MEC UK, said, “Of all marketing services agencies, media agencies have always had the best access to data. This places MEC in a great position to use the data available to develop content and content partnerships that stem from the science of organic performance and means there is a high quality value chain from insight, through creative to distribution and success measurement. Add in our membership with the CMA and there is nobody better placed to develop, execute and measure content led marketing strategies for clients than an agency like MEC.”

Stuart Bowden, Joint CEO at MEC UK, said, “We’re delighted to appoint Jamie to this role. We believe his knowledge of content development and distribution will complement MEC’s existing skills in social community management, organic performance and increasingly in content partnerships with media owners across the board. Bringing these capabilities together for our clients will allow us to continue producing innovative solutions that help them thrive, as the mix of Owned, Earned and Paid media changes over the coming months.”
