M&C Saatchi Group Proudly Presents the Australian Women’s Film Festival 2024
The driving force of AWFF is to support, encourage, and ultimately celebrate female storytellers and leaders within the film industry by giving them a platform to showcase their talent both in front of and behind the camera. The festival will take place in Sydney on Tuesday, 17th September. This year's event will be hosted by Australian presenter and media personality, Lucia Hawley. Joining Lucia, the festival’s influential judging panel for 2024 includes Kyas Hepworth (Head of Screen NSW), Leah Purcell (director, writer & producer), Sophie Wilde (actor), and Bella Heathcote (actor).
Commenting on what has become a significant and respected annual event for the Australian film industry, Sophie Wilde said: "AWFF is such an important initiative - it presents a valuable opportunity to champion women in all our glory, and to tell our stories from our perspectives. I'm thrilled to be a part of a festival that celebrates that."
On being a judge for the 2024 AWFF Awards, Bella Heathcote added, "I’m excited to see this year’s entries and celebrate female-driven films!"
This year, AWFF will also honour industry powerhouse Leah Purcell with the AWFF Trailblazer Award. Additionally, producer and disability advocate Tracey Corbin-Matchett will be bestowed with the AWFF Groundbreaker Award.
With the generous support of major prize sponsors, the winner of the Best Film at AWFF 2024 will have a big head start on their next film with a $10,000 equipment rental package from VA Hire, a $10,000 rental package from Disney Lighting, and a $5,000 post-production package from Spectrum Films. Additional awards will be given for Best Drama, Documentary, Comedy, and Animation. Individual categories will also be recognised.
