The new UEFA Europa League anthem, an uplifting and powerful expression that fits the nature of the competition, has been composed and produced by international creative music agency MassiveMusic and will be played before every game in the upcoming season and beyond.
In anticipation of the new season, the UEFA Europa League will feature a refreshed, vibrant and flexible brand identity. The visual expression takes on bolder, edgier shapes – also reflected in the related music package that comes along with it.
The piece was created with a team of composers from MassiveMusic and recorded in collaboration with the string section of the prestigious Dutch Metropole Orchestra, comprising of approximately 30 violins, to provide the classical theme of the anthem. MassiveMusic’s team of producers then remixed the orchestral and vocal layers with electronic beats and synths, creating an up-tempo, bold and energetic piece where old meets new.

Hans Brouwer, founder and CEO at MassiveMusic commented: “For any football fan, UEFA have a few iconic anthems that are instantly recognisable, and that’s precisely what we wanted for the UEFA Europa League sound. We wanted to bring a feeling of ‘togetherness’ through the sound, where fans can take ownership of the anthem, much like with their own club chants. It’s an anthem that has a combative feel to it and a football team’s ultimate goal is to win the competition – to strive for glory.”
As well as creating the three-minute anthem, MassiveMusic also created 20 other versions of the recording – including short bumpers for broadcast loops, team line-ups and match countdowns. The aim was to create a sound which could stand the test of time but also be easily adapted.
Hans continued, “We’re particularly proud of the craftsmanship of this piece. We have a great relationship with the Metropole Orchestra and were able to make the score highly authentic.”
