Manners McDade’s composer Richard Blair-Oliphant has announced that the soundtrack he wrote in 2008 for the Discovery Channel’s series ‘When We Left Earth’ will be released on the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 later this year. Richard received an Emmy nomination for his music on the series.
Richard Blair-Oliphant has worked on projects as diverse as the feature film comedy The All Together, starring Martin Freeman and Danny Dyer, the multi-award-winning Blindsight, directed by Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker, the BAFTA nominated drama The Relief of Belsen and A Harlot’s Progress, featuring Toby Jones as William Hogarth.
Richard’s commissions have also included Moonshot, the Emmy-nominated dramatisation of the Apollo XI moon landing, 1066: The Battle for Middle Earth, and the critically acclaimed City of Vice, starring Ian McDiarmid and Iain Glen.
In 2010, the BBC commissioned him to compose a new theme and suite of music for its coverage of the UK General Election, which was performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Richard’s music has also recently been performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Danubia Symphony Orchestra.
Most recently, Richard scored both the feature The Dinosaur Project for Moonlight Films, and the 3-part BBC natural history series 'Great Barrier Reef.'
