Electronic music producer, film composer, live performer, and DJ Kate Simko has joined Manners McDade. Hailing from Chicago, Kate has carved an international career with music that reflects the influences of the city’s underground sounds, as well her background in classical piano and film music.
Combining her passion for classical and electronic music, Kate’s hybrid sound blurs the lines between synth and orchestral melodies, while mixing in deep bass, sound design, and classic drums that stand out for their edgy, high-end production quality. Kate’s background as a live performer - engaging with large crowds through music - uniquely informs her voice as a composer.
Kate has released multiple albums and soundtracks, reaching the Top 100 in the Billboard Classical chart, as well as the Top 10 in house music charts worldwide. She has also worked with Academy Award winning sound designer Stephen Flick, with her music and composition credits including several films and commercials (Giorgio Armani and Nissan), BBC and Netflix shows amongst others.
Kate launched her own ensemble, the London Electronic Orchestra in 2014. The core LEO ensemble - featuring harp, strings, and Kate on keys - has performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, and released the debut ‘Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra’ album on tastemaker label The Vinyl Factory in 2016. LEO had their biggest show to date to close 2018, selling out the Barbican Centre in London with Jamie Jones. Their new collaboration ‘Opus 1’ featured an expanded 28-piece London Electronic Orchestra, with 90 minutes of music arranged for orchestra by Kate.
Kate’s latest project is a feature-length score for 137 Films, whose past PBS documentary ‘The Atom Smashers’ also featured Kate’s soundtrack. The film ‘We Believe in Dinosaurs’ is represented by CAA, with plans to release the soundtrack on Kate’s label, London Electronic Recordings.
