Manners McDade Composers Nominated for Jerry Goldsmith Awards

Jim Fowler (with Joe Thwaites) has been nominated for Best Score for Video game for 'Blood and Truth' at the Jerry Goldsmith Awards. 

Blood and Truth is a PlayStation VR video game with a high-octane action-narrative structure, situated in present day London the game follows Ryan Marks, a character on a dangerous mission to save his family from a ruthless criminal overlord.

The genre-bending 'orchestral-meets-grime' score was co-composed by Jim Fowler and Joe Thwaites, produced by Zdot and features vocal tracks from UK grime artists; JME, Eyez, Kamakaze and Ocean Wisdom and featuring a ninety-piece orchestra recorded at AIR and Abbey Road Studios.

Jim began his career playing and composing for theatre and jazz, before joining Sony PlayStation as their in-house composer for projects such as Blood & Truth and the live Albert Hall performance of PlayStation in Concert. Jim has also composed for several other releases such as LittleBigPlanet, Wonderbook: Book of Spells and Diggs Nightcrawler.

Nainita Desai’s score for 'Extraordinary Rituals' has been nominated for Best Documentary Score.

The documentary was commissioned as part of BBC’s Natural History Unit Landmark series, following traditions and rituals around the world, the series immerses the viewer in the spectacular and emotional human stories that form our global rituals. Exploring key rituals from birth, to marriage to death, community rituals and highlighting ancient and modern ceremonies.

Manners McDade composer Nainita Desai, whose work transverses the worlds of television, film and gaming through mainstream scoring to more experimental sound design, was named the second most prominent female media composer in the UK earlier this year. Most recently, Nainita has scored narrative game Telling Lies, which was developed by multi-BAFTA winning games designer-director Sam Barlow and Nainita’s title theme won the 2019 Music+Sound Award for Best Original Composition In A Game Trailer/Promo. Nainita also recently scored For Sama, an award-winning documentary depicting an intimate and epic journey into the female experience of war in Syria.
