As the winter gloom melted away and gardeners eagerly watched their flowerbeds for the blossoming of spring bulbs, the Loveurope and Partners (LEAP) print and promotions team began their preparations for a very special garden. For three years, it has become an annual tradition for the agency to retrieve ther promotional London black cab from storage, dust it off, patch it up and rejuvenate it with M&G Investments’ latest designs for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show taxi wrap.
The floral-themed, M&G-branded London Taxi formed the centrepiece on the Bullring roundabout at the main entrance of the Chelsea Flower Show. Exquisite landscape planting by the Royal Horticultural Society completed the picture. But, there was more going on behind the scenes to achieve the smooth production of this eye-catching display.
LEAP’s project managers sourced the second-hand taxi cab and had the engine and fluids removed to protect the plants from any potential leaks. Each year, our experienced print and promotions team has produced and applied the vinyl wrap, working with M&G’s approved creative designs. The team then arranged for the wrapped taxi to be carefully craned onto a low loader truck, transported to its designated roundabout site, and lowered by crane into position. It was set in place in such a way as to ensure that it didn’t sink into the muddy ground if it was to rain. (It is England after all.) Finally, the site was ready for the planting to begin and the display to be completed. Between events, the team ensure the taxi is carefully stored away, so it will be ready to look its best for the next Chelsea Flower Show.
