The partnership between lollipop mentoring and The Marylebone Project launched earlier this year to break down barriers and offer marginalised women access to successful agencies and businesses.
For a low cost and maximum effect, Digital Cinema Media just had to provide a date, space, and lunch for the event. The agenda was handled by founder of lollipop mentoring, Maria McDowell, who was also the liaison with The Marylebone Project. It consisted of an introduction, explanations of the responsibilities and services of the agency, and an opportunity for informal networking over lunch.
The immersive drop-in was invaluable, resulting in many tears and smiles, and one woman even saying it was the best day she had had in years. Showing attendees people who look like them in surroundings they may have never pictured themselves in made them feel valued, listened to, and full of potential.
Davina Barker, sales director at Digital Cinema Media, comments, “Lollipop is doing an amazing job of widening our industry’s reach and tapping into the brilliant resources on offer, sharing them even further. We were proud to host a session at DCM to play a part in the important work they do alongside The Marylebone Project. We look forward to a long-standing relationship where together we can continue to better the experiences on offer.”
Maria McDowell, founder of Lollipop Mentoring, adds, “I’d like to thank the fantastic Davina Barker and team at Digital Cinema Media, as well as Miriam Kennedy and Ruhamah Sonson who do amazing work at The Marylebone Project. We’re all determined to empower and inspire these women, and firmly believe that everyone deserves a chance. If your business would like to help (for very little investment but so much gain), don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
