lollipop mentoring, a program supporting Black women in the industry, is welcoming its new cohort of mentees with its best kick off event yet. Sponsored by textured haircare brand, Cantu, and Publicis Groupe, it will be held at Major Players’ Shoreditch office from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on 12th February 2025.
Promoting real connections, clarity, and tangible opportunities to aid the advancement of Black women in their careers, the theme for the evening is action and love: moving past empty words to act with intention and care.
Attendees will have the chance to learn, network, and get matched with a mentor or mentee, to help them excel personally and professionally – all while supporting Black leadership in the industry. It will also feature a thought-provoking panel of guest speakers sharing their journeys, insights, and strategies to navigate challenges and achieve success while leading with love and authenticity:
- Remel London, broadcaster and founder of creative platform, The Mainstream
- Jordan Jarrett-Bryan, journalist, broadcaster and founder of Blakademik
- Maria St Louis, former co-chair of Channel 4’s C4 Collective
- Lynne Jarrett, senior insights director at GroupM and former lollipop mentee and mentor
Maria McDowell, founder of lollipop mentoring, commented, “lollipop mentoring is about aligning Black women with mentors who understand and champion their journey. But we’re also an inclusive community – we invite others to join, celebrate, learn, and have fun with us. Over the past few years, I’ve realised just how short life is, and that’s why it’s so important to take every chance to connect meaningfully and support one another. This event is about building real relationships, gaining insight, and moving forward with purpose – and doing it all in an environment that’s uplifting and joyful.”
