Having spent his formative years toggling between France and Israel, punctuated by extensive travels, Gils journey took a riveting turn. For over a decade, he navigated the tumultuous realms as a photographer, cameraman, and producer, capturing the stark realities of wars and disasters.
Thirteen years ago, fate steered Gil toward Singapore, a pivotal juncture that heralded a shift from the visceral world of conflict to the dynamic realm of commercial ventures. As he acclimatised to this vibrant city-state, an astute observation revealed an unmet need within the industry. It was this realisation that propelled him to pioneer Singapore's inaugural specialised production services company.
Gil> Singapore is the perfect mix of Asia and the west. It is also one of the safest and cleanest countries in the world. You can shoot almost any ‘country’ except snow and desert, because of the mix of architectures and cultures. Singapore also offers a stunning futuristic metropolis surrounded by nature.
Gil> Singapore has a tropical climate year round, ease of movement and access, costs (in some countries), amazing cultures and great cheap food.
Gil> The iconic Marina Bay Area, futuristic vs traditional vs colonial architecture. Beaches, nature/ jungles, pristine highways and roads perfect for vehicle commercials, Singapore River.
Gil> It’s got to be the Marina Bay skyline and the Quays.
Gil> The biggest attribute is the road filming access and the variety of different cultural locations, as well as the Singapore River and its very varied views.
Gil> Singapore has a tropical climate year round, Hot and humid with occasional rain. It is mostly unpredictable, but it’s best to avoid the middle of the rainy season if shooting outdoors.
Gil> There is no visa required. There is also a special work permit exemption available for filming.
Gil> Singapore is still in its infancy when it comes to large scale productions, however, enough that all gear and crew are available locally, and constantly expanding. Casting is great because of the large variety of races and cultures that call Singapore home. Studios are limited but there are huge studios within 40 minute drive/ ferry in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Gil> The biggest TVC’s are for luxury cars and brands, Netflix and other streaming services, high end corporate videos.
Gil> Each country in the region has its own set of rules and laws, as well as cultural sensitivities. Make sure to always work with a local fixer/ production services company. As with everything in life, be kind and assume good intentions.
Gil> Hire us!
Gil> I always recommend Robertson Quay. It doesn’t have the largest selection of hotels, but it’s a great area for clients/ crew to relax after working, surrounded by nice restaurants and bars, quiet and easy access to the rest of Singapore.
Gil> That changes monthly, and It depends on the style you’re looking for. There are a few ‘must do’s’ that I’ll be happy to take you to when you come work with us.
Gil> Take a bum-boat on the river. It’s great for filming, but also just to see most of the landmarks in one go.
