On the heels of the recent launch of their standalone live action division, multifaceted creative studio LOBO is proud to announce the signing of acclaimed live action director Cristiana Miranda.
Known for her versatile directing style that seamlessly blends narrative depth with striking visuals, Cristiana brings a wealth of experience from her work with global brands, high-profile celebrities and critically acclaimed documentaries. Her addition to LOBO’s live action roster reinforces the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of creative storytelling.
Hailing from Lisbon, Cristiana first made her mark on the industry at just 21 with a highly successful documentary about burlesque icon Dita Von Teese. The film, which aired on the Discovery Channel, garnered wide acclaim, featuring on the UK’s Friday Night Show with Jonathan Ross and earning her a nomination for Best Newcomer at the London Rushes Film Festival.
LOBO Live-Action EP Paul Amorese shares his excitement about welcoming Cristiana to the team, saying, “I first came across Cristiana’s work when I saw her piece on Dita Von Teese. What stood out to me was how she captured the essence of her subject with such grace. It was one of those moments where you recognize a filmmaker who brings something truly special, and from there, I naturally wanted to explore more of her work.”
After such a promising start, it’s no surprise that Cristiana’s career continued to flourish. She has since directed campaigns for some of the world’s most recognized brands and faces, including Johnnie Walker, L’Oréal, Adidas, Burberry, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Davina McCall and Holly Willoughby, to name a few.
Cristiana’s signing with LOBO’s live-action division is the result of a long-standing mutual admiration between the director and the production company. The potential for blending her experience with LOBO’s renowned expertise is also at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Cristiana states, “It’s a thrill to join forces with LOBO and see how we can combine our backgrounds to keep creating exciting work. I think, at the moment, this relationship is about exploration and truly diving into fun ways to combine live action with animation.”
While it is still early in the partnership, Cristiana looks forward to getting to know the talent at LOBO and building collaborative bridges. With LOBO’s international reputation for creative excellence, she sees the potential to reach new audiences and markets, leveraging the company’s global platform to expand her artistic reach.
“LOBO’s work speaks for itself,” Cristiana continues. “They generate an immediate ‘seal of approval.’ I just want to give continuity to that and hopefully bring a different flavour to the mix that has a wider reach given LOBO’s extensive recognition.”
In addition to her work with LOBO live action, Cristiana remains at the helm of her Lisbon-based production company, Playground. The company is known for its focus on nurturing young talent. By the end of the year, Playground will begin production on a number of feature projects that have been in development for some time. This new venture underscores Christiana’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries—not only in commercial work but also in long-form storytelling.
LOBO chief growth officer Loic Dubois added, “Cristiana’s versatility, her radiant creative spirit, and her ability to seamlessly move between high-profile celebrity work, documentary storytelling, and beautifully crafted commercial campaigns make her an incredible fit for LOBO. We’re excited to see how her sophisticated, bold approach will elevate our creative output as we venture into new markets and global campaigns.”
With the backing of LOBO’s international platform, the next phase of Christiana’s career promises to be as dynamic and exciting as the work that has already defined her journey.
