McKinney and Grace Yerchuk share a Little Caesars version of William Shakespeare’s 'The Tragedy of Julius Caesar'

Year after year, Little Caesars fans ask the same question: how did Little Caesar survive the Ides of March? It’s a fair question, considering he’s running around the brand’s TikTok channel.

Each year, as the Ides of March rolls around, social chatter around Little Caesars spikes – case in point here and here. In fact, without fail, one man replies to CMO Greg Hamilton’s LinkedIn posts asking what the brand is doing for the Ides of March.

While Little Caesars and creative agency of record McKinney have created social content around the Ides of March for the last two years, this year they wanted to capitalise on the conversation and kick the content up a notch. As the only brand with a mascot connected to the Ides of March, they had an opportunity to do something no brand had done before – change the narrative around the Ides of March and put an end to the curiosities once and for all.

Inspired by William Shakespeare’s 'The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,' this year Little Caesars shared its own version of the story through song and dance: 'Ides of March: The Musical.' How, you ask? By tapping Grace Yerchuk, a talented musician and writer who has already created 25+ musical videos dedicated to Julius Caesar.

After discovering Grace’s TikTok while concepting the idea, McKinney instantly knew she was the unlock to level-up on Ides content this year. Since the Roman Empire trend popped off on TikTok in 2023, she has written a collection of songs turning the Shakespeare play into a full blown musical. Partnering closely, McKinney provided the storyline and Grace matched the narrative to her music and wrote the lyrics.

'Ides of March: The Musical' came to life in five videos: A teaser, three acts, and a 'press-tour' video. These videos live exclusively on Little Caesars’ owned social channels (Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube), with Grace posting as collab-posts on her channels.

Act I was the second most-shared piece of Little Caesars TikTok content so far this year.

Check out act two and act three.

Speaking about her experience working on the project, Grace shared, "It was so exciting to write this mini-musical for Little Caesars. I was eager to write these songs with the hopes they would get stuck in everyone's heads. I think the results are catchy, fun, and do a great job at telling the true-ish story of the Ides of March.”
