Saturday 30th August sees the launch of a new campaign for McDonald’s celebrating its 40th Anniversary in the UK.
As the restaurant chain celebrates 40 years in the UK, the campaign sets to remind people that McDonald’s has been there in the background of many moments all through their life. The campaign looks back at some of these moments, choosing those that are timeless, which we can all relate to and reminisce about, regardless of age. Moments that are charming, funny, touching or poignant. Moments that are happy and moments that are sad. Moments that are big - such as passing your driving test or having your first child. Moments that are smaller and every day - like having a natter with friends.
Created by Leo Burnett, the TV launches this weekend in the commercial break of the first X-Factor of 2014, with four 30 second ads; ‘The Just Passed Your Test Drive-Thru’, ‘The Camping Trip SOS’, ‘The Nervous First Date’ and ‘The Just Moved In Reward’. Following the launch, six executions in total will rotate on TV (with the additions of ‘The Bubbles Is Now In Heaven Chat’ and ‘The After Movie Natter’), with all TVCs complemented by iconic music tracks from the 70’s. All six 30 second ads will also roll out on VOD and online throughout the duration of the campaign.
The TV campaign was written and art directed by Andy Drugan and Ed Morris and directed by Pete Riski, at Rattling Stick. The Creative Directors were Adam Tucker, Matt Lee and Peter Heyes, and Executive Creative Director was Justin Tindall.
The TV work is supported by a national outdoor campaign, comprising of eight executions which also reminds people that McDonald’s has been there in the background of a myriad of moments all through their lives.
