King She was unveiled in the fall 2022 with a revolutionary short film: Rare: The Boy Who Cried Swag. A dreamlike film following model Rico Sanches, his unruly upbringing in Washington DC and relationship with his younger brother Raphael, victim of police violence. It premiered on Nowness, won three Young Director Awards in Cannes, Gold for best Short Film at the 1.4 Awards Nitehawk film festival and was shortlisted at the Berlin Ciclope Festival.
Their recent work for the Super Bowl half-time show with Apple Music & Rihanna has won them a Gold and Silver Lion at Cannes, to be nominated at the D&AD Awards in direction and five nominations to the AICP awards, including one for Best New Director (they took home). It was their first commercial campaign.
They have created an impressive repertoire of films going from award-winning short films to experimental pieces for Kanye and Jay-Z ‘Watch the Throne’ tour, Yeezy and Teyana Taylor for Brand Jordan.
King She uses fashion, culture and music to create their visual universe.
Recently, they directed the latest campaign for Spotify ‘wrapped’. Shots Magazine rates it as an entertaining and deep dive into all things filmmaking.
In May of 2023, with the Young Director Awards, they started a podcast series they produce and run.
