Christmas is an extremely noisy time of year, with many brands and retailers ‘shouting’ for attention. So this year Halfords are bucking the trend by creating a space for their unfiltered message to shout in its own very unique way. No music track, CGI or tinsel required.
In their new TVC and VOD spot launching 4th November, the work by Karmarama aims to remind parents of the true gift of giving a bike this Christmas and portray the unbridled happiness and sense of freedom only riding a bike can bring.
Check out the spot below:
A bike isn’t just another Christmas present. It’s the thrill of adventure, independence, all year long. The freedom to go off on your own two wheels. It’s a pure, unadulterated, unfiltered joy.
Working with director Joshua Neale from Smuggler, the one single tracked shot focuses on a child riding their new bike along the wonderful British coastline. It captures the joy associated with cycling in the great outdoors, in a bid to celebrate the ultimate gift that keeps on giving on Christmas day and beyond.
Dan Rutherford, Executive Creative Director at Karmarama, said: “The Halfords brand believes that when you ride more you get more out of life. There’s a wonderful spiritual and inherently human connection between our cyclist, their bike and the surrounding environment. This plays out in an execution designed to celebrate the great outdoors in all its glory - showcasing the special gift of cycling that certainly keeps on giving, Christmas and beyond, child and adults alike.”
Caroline Waller, Group Head of Marketing at Halfords, said: “As the UK’s market leader in bikes, we understand their true value is felt far beyond Christmas. As parents set out on their annual searches for the best gifts, we wanted to champion children’s bikes and remind parents of the unadulterated joy and benefits it brings. We are proud to have worked with Karmarama to create an ad that beautifully captures the real impact of a bike on a child’s happiness, not just on Christmas day but all year round.”
