Caviar's JP Chartrand has directed the new music video for Mark Ronson's latest single ‘Late Night Feelings’. In the promo, we see Lykke Li (who teamed up with Ronson for the title track of the forthcoming album) conducting an obsessive and sensual seduction of Ronson. The art direction and narrative evokes the thin line that resides between loneliness, love and obsession, featuring effortless transitions that make for a nostalgic feast for the eyes.
As we progress through the film, the lines are blurred between what is real and what is a hallucination. There is certainly something shared between Mark and Lykke, but will they ever make a connection?
JP — one half of acclaimed directing duo Dent De Cuir — comments: “For LNF, I decided to work with mirrors as a canvas to explore loneliness and obsession. I worked my ass off to develop near-impossible mirror shot setups that echo the level of Lykke’s obsessive love. I had to kill some of these setups in the process, so the mirror thing didn’t get too gimmicky or override the narrative and overall tone of the video. I really hope Mark will release a LNF Part 2 someday so I can give life to the bunch of fancy mirror setup drawings that are taking over my moleskine.”
