J. Walter Thompson Shanghai has won the business of the Honor smartphone brand, part of China’s Huawei Group, following a multi-agency pitch.
Since Honor’s launch three years ago, 40 million Honor phones have been shipped to 74 countries, bringing in US$6 billion in sales and engaging with nearly 100 million fans online last year. Honor is now seeking to refine its brand for the next phase of growth as the China smartphone market matures.
“J. Walter Thompson’s understanding of youth in both the digital world and real life, as well as our sharp strategy and creative craftsmanship will help Honor tune in to young people’s minds and souls throughout China and the world,” said George Shi, general manager of J. Walter Thompson Shanghai.
J. Walter Thompson Shanghai will initially focus on Honor’s strategy, key creative and product launch strategy and planning in China, with the possibility of expanding their involvement to a future global campaign.
“Honor looks forward to working with J. Walter Thompson to create a better brand experience for young people in the future,” said Joanna Xu, Director of Honor’s Brand Management Department.
