BRAVÒ’s creative director shares the motivations that launched BRAVÒ Network and how the company plans to revolutionise the creative production industry

Ivan Olita is a Milan-born creative director and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Beginning his career in fashion and music, he went on to consult for Rolling Stone, V Magazine, and W Magazine, working with figures from Oprah to Karl Lagerfeld. Mentored by Werner Herzog, he transitioned into filmmaking and founded BRAVÒ, building a global network of clients, collaborators, and partners.

BRAVÒ has recently expanded to launch BRAVÒ Network, a curated platform connecting clients and agencies with freelance directors, streamlining the traditional production model to meet the needs of modern projects.

Q> What challenges did you perceive in the traditional model of director representation that BRAVÒ NETWORK aims to address?

Ivan> From my dual lens as a director and a business owner, I've seen the industry's transformation over a decade. The traditional path to success — getting represented — isn't the holy grail for the new wave of directors. They're riding a tide of open markets and opportunities, seeking paths that are as flexible as their creative visions. That's where BRAVÒ NETWORK steps in, offering a platform that mirrors this modern, fluid approach to filmmaking and representation.

Q> Can you share with us the inspiration behind the creation of BRAVÒ NETWORK and how it fits within the BRAVÒ family alongside STUDIO & PICTURES?

Ivan> BRAVÒ NETWORK evolved from our massive, behind-the-scenes database, my brainchild, spanning across diverse creative roles. The director's section, a frequently tapped resource for client recommendations, sparked an idea: why not flip our backend to the front? It's what sets us apart — this vibrant directory of creatives we trust and often collaborate with. It dawned on us that this very network is our unique offering.

We've often been likened to a tech company for our data-centric approach, and I believe that's a testament to our forward-thinking ethos. In the broader BRAVÒ family, each brand shines in its niche: STUDIO excels in production, NETWORK connects talent, and PICTURES takes promising ideas into the realm of long-form storytelling.

Q> Could you elaborate on the curation process for the freelance directors and photographers who join the network? What makes a creative a good fit?

Ivan> Curation at BRAVÒ is an art in itself, steeped in our unique company DNA and the eclectic backgrounds of our team. We aren't cut from the usual production cloth. We're more like wanderers who found a home here. So, we naturally gravitate towards directors and photographers with a taste for the unconventional — be it in art, fashion, or social narratives. It's not about having the most extensive portfolio; it's about showcasing a vision that resonates with the contemporary pulse.

Q> Can you give us an insight into the 'simplicity and agility' that BRAVÒ NETWORK offers to its clients?

Ivan> At its core, BRAVÒ NETWORK is about providing no-frills, agile solutions. We've honed a process that's as straightforward as it gets, yet fully integrated with our wide-ranging in-house expertise. This ensures our clients navigate from the discovery phase to final production with unmatched ease and efficiency.

Q> How does BRAVÒ NETWORK's approach to content creation differ from that of traditional production houses?

Ivan> The essence of our approach lies in its fluidity and tailored fit. We're not about static talent rosters; we're a continually evolving collective of freelance creatives. At BRAVÒ NETWORK, you're not just hiring a name; you're uncovering a gem perfect for your unique vision. Our streamlined process cuts through traditional layers and costs, offering a comprehensive service from talent discovery to the final cut. And, our freelancers aren't just collaborators; they're partners benefiting from our revenue-sharing model.

Q> Can you share a success story or a particular project that epitomises the mission and capabilities of BRAVÒ NETWORK?

Ivan> The story of Saddiq and the Versace Jeans Couture campaign is a favourite of mine. Our first interaction was a deep-dive Zoom session, something I cherish with every new director. It's about finding that perfect match, akin to dating. With Saddiq, the stars aligned almost magically. A month after our first chat, his portfolio wowed the team at VJC, leading to an incredible collaboration for their campaign. This story is a beautiful testament to the connections and opportunities fostered through BRAVÒ NETWORK.

Q> Lastly, where do you envision BRAVÒ NETWORK in the next five years, and what legacy do you hope it will create in the creative industry?

Ivan> Looking ahead, I see BRAVÒ NETWORK as the ultimate destination for freelance directors and photographers who are looking to make their mark. It's about creating a sanctuary for the unrepresented talents, a place where their artistry is recognised and valued. For our clients, BRAVÒ NETWORK will be the only stop for sourcing the best-curated freelancers in lifestyle, fashion, and entertainment. We're on a journey to redefine the creative industry's norms, fostering a legacy of inclusivity, innovation, and unparalleled talent.
