Laundry Service co-CCOs Danny Nunez and Matt Walton pick out five powerful campaigns they have felt motivated by
We began our collaboration as co-CCOs of Laundry Service and cycle in 2022. Working together, we keep surprising and motivating each other with the distinct experience each of us brings to the table. Our combined experience is more than either of us could master in a single career. We’ve brought together some of our most inspired collaborations in art, music and advertising to show just how potent four hands and two minds can be in the creative process...
Warhol and Basquiat - 'Dos Cabezas'
Born as a collaboration-by-mail, the two legends were shipping partially finished canvases back and forth for years, occasionally even painting side-by-side in the same room. They worked together on over 100 paintings, harmonising their aesthetic and egos to produce one-of-a-kind pieces.
Lil Jon x DJ Snake - 'Turn Down for What'
Production: PRETTYBIRD Los Angeles
Directors: Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert)
'Turn Down for What' was a huge moment for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who would go on to sit three tables away from Steven Spielberg at this year’s Golden Globe Awards with 2022’s epic feature, 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.
Donna Summer x Barbra Streisand - 'No More Tears'
Label: Columbia x Casablanca
'No More Tears' was a 1979 collaboration between two legendary voices. It was Donna Summer’s last number one hit, and although it’s not the most requested song by either artist, the photoshoot alone made it all worth the work of getting two divas on the same track.
MTN Dew x Doritos
Knowing your audience and rewarding their passion for your product is one of the great joys of building a brand. Testing the threshold of your fans’ love and curiosity can lead to wild success and crossover growth that no single brand can earn on its own.
The North Face x Pokémon GO
This collaboration represents the very best in broad, functional accessibility within the world of high-end fashion. Through a collision of the North Face’s 70s archive and Gucci’s elite aesthetic, the virtual capsule collection was launched exclusively for players’ avatars at 100 PokéStops scattered throughout Pokémon GO. You wouldn’t expect the Venn Diagram of these three brand worlds to have much overlap...but here we are.
