Transporting audiences to the wild west, Heckler Sound recently saddled up with Australian director Justin McMillan on ‘Let’s Texas’, a scenic Texas Tourism campaign via Austin creative agency Proof Advertising.
Heckler Sound creative director Johnny Green composed original music to accompany the adventure-packed director’s cut version of the campaign film, spotlighting the state’s unique locations, fun local activities, and warm Texan people.
Putting a new spin on a wild, untamed destination, the original music and mix balances the poetry led, ode-to-Texas campaign, supported by sound design crafted by Dave Robertson that further heightens the unique and playful scenery.
Commenting on the campaign, Johnny Green says, “Justin totally nailed it with that canvas! The scenery, sound, and poetry elevate the film, with just a hint of Texan vibes in the background that pull you right into the breath-taking setting.
“We busted out a Chet Atkins’ Country Gentleman guitar with a good amount of vibrato and reverb to wash over the scenery, while the sound design transports you directly to each destination."
Director Justin McMillan added, “This job was something else. Shooting at first light then traveling nine hours to the next location to shoot a sunset was a normal day and I couldn’t help but feel a connection to the place.”
