As part of SXSW Sydney, Heckler celebrated Western Australian talent with the ‘Collision // East x West’ event
Celebrating an evening of creativity, tech and music, Heckler had a blast hosting ‘Collision // East x West’ as part of this year’s SXSW Sydney event.

Spotlighting West Australian tech, creativity and hospitality, the event focused on Western Australian founders in the tech world as they pitched their startups as part of West Tech Fest’s delegation to SXSW Sydney.

The pitch was followed by a night of experimentation as creativity, tech and music collided in a showcase from Australia's new immersive experience and entertainment collective – Supergiant.

The night also included a line-up of awesome musicians from Western Australia and also local band Sum City – a collab between Heckler Sounds’ Johnny Green and Dave Kelly, and Tyrone Estephan.

Western Australia minister for innovation and the digital economy Stephen Dawson said the Collision event, as part of Team WA’s visit to the SXSW conference in Sydney, was a confluence of WA innovation, creativity and collaboration.

“At a packed event at the Heckler Studio, this was a golden opportunity to showcase the incredible depth of talent that we have in WA and connect our innovators with national and international stakeholders and investors.

“We have a very special kind of innovator in WA - people who are tenacious, resourceful and passionate about turning their business dreams into a reality -- and I’m hopeful connections made at this event will drive them along on this journey.

“We have a vision on making WA a global hub for invention, investment, innovation and impact and through the support of the West Tech Fest and the Creative Tech Village we laid significant groundwork for future collaborations and opportunities to invest and play in WA!”

Heckler executive producer, Amy Jarman, sayid “It was great to see the whole Heckler studio up in lights for an inspiring night of art, music and technology. We are looking forward to collaborating more with the team in WA in the future.”

Of course, all the fun was fuelled by Margaret River beer and wine. And a big thank you to partners on the night: Eat the Elephant, Mandy Lights, Junior Major, Lymlive and TDC.
