HALAL, the Amsterdam and Berlin based production company, brings home four awards at this year's Young Director Award in Cannes, including the annual Producers Award and Special Jury Prize.
The Producers Award recognises the role of producers in nurturing and developing the careers of young directors. As a production agency, HALAL has always had a radical approach to storytelling, with an artist centric business and holistic approach to content creation. Consisting of a photography, fiction, documentary and commercial department, the company's DNA lies in thinking outside conventional narratives. This honorary award is a testament to HALAL's dedication to provide a diverse, global platform for its talent to develop and explore their voice across genres and industries.
The Special Jury Prize was awarded to Thessa Meijer and the HALAL produced short film 'The Walking Fish', which also picked up Gold in the Short Film Category.
Finally, Madja Amin - who officially signed with HALAL for commercial representation 10 days ago - received Silver in the Short Film category for his first HALAL production; 'Stray Sheep'.
