Gut, Primo & Can Can Club Announces Animated Short Trailer of “My Gut Friend”

GUT, in co-production with the audio-visual production company Primo and the animation studio Can Can Club, announce the upcoming launch of their animated short film “My Gut Friend”, based on an original idea by the agency's ECDs, José Mario Muñoz and Rodrigo del Oso.

“My Gut Friend" is GUT’s first original content production initiative. This was the winning idea of their Unbranded Content Contest, an internal initiative that invites people to submit ideas unrelated to any brand. The winning idea is then produced by the agency. In this edition, the memorable fictional story created by Josema y Oso was selected from more than 35 ideas and it initially was released as a children's book and then in an audio-visual work.

The story addresses a particular topic told from the perspective of a child and his inseparable imaginary friend, whose bond transcends the barriers of the tangible. With a distinctive visual style, which fuses the stop motion technique with a deep and moving narrative, “This short film promises to leave a mark on the world of stop motion animation, immersing us in a sensitive story that will impact the hearts of viewers, ” noted Caro Cordini of Primo.

"For two years we worked meticulously, with more than 70 artists, in each of the processes, designing each composition and creating a unique universe, where character and background designs, photography, animation and art complement each other with the band sound, originally created for this short", concluded Becho and Mab from Can Can Club.

Rodrigo del Oso and José Mario Muñoz pointed out: "My Gut Friend is a story written not only with the heart, but with our gut. After years of telling stories for brands, this is our first completely personal story, the most intimate story that we have told so far and we can't wait to share it with the public”. 

The short film is expected to be released at major film festivals in 2025.
