Grey London has added to its growing leadership team by appointing Raquel Chicourel as chief strategy officer.

Raquel has had an impressive career working at some of the biggest names in advertising. Most recently she was CSO of M&C Saatchi, following tenures as head of strategy at Saatchi & Saatchi, board planning director at AMV BBDO and planning director at BBH London.

Over her career she’s helped various brands and agencies win numerous strategy and creative awards, including a Cannes Lions for Mattessons, alongside an IPA Effectiveness Bronze Award, and YouTube Works Effectiveness Grand Prix and Best Cultural Impact accolades. a D&AD Pencil for HomeAway’s ‘Getting HomeAway from it all’, an APG Bronze Award for Walls, and numerous other awards while at M&C Saatchi London;

Raquel has also led in London some of M&C’s greatest new business wins, including Coca-Cola, Twinings, Apprenticeships and Tourism Australia.

For nearly 20 years Raquel helped build and transform brands; creating fame and making cultural dents for a diverse range of businesses, from  FMCG, Energy and Alcoholic drinks through to banking and dotcoms – including HomeAway, Coca-Cola, Heinz, Haagen-Dazs, Mars, Johnnie Walker and Persil.

Raquel will join Grey London in mid-January and report directly into CEO Anna Panczyk. Replacing Matt Tanter, she’s the latest addition to Anna’s leadership team, joining acting chief creative officer, Javier Campopiano; chief people officer, Jacqui King; chief finance officer, Mark Young; and chief growth officer, Rob Sellers.

Raquel said: “What our industry needs right now is change. And where better to do that than at Grey, which has always had an appetite for it. An agency that has reinvented itself before, one that changed its name to make an important point about diversity and to honour its Jewish founders, one that expands the boundaries of creative ideas. Grey is a place open to everyone with a fearless spirit and an appetite for change, from all walks of life and all corners of the world.”

Anna Panczyk added:  “I can’t think of a better way to start this new decade than by welcoming Raquel to the leadership team.  Her fierce intelligence and passion for creativity is irresistible. I have absolutely no doubt that she’s going to enable us to make our best work yet.”
