GREY London has announced the appointment of Steve Davies as Design Director.
Davies – who joins from Saatchi & Saatchi – will report to Executive Creative Director Nils Leonard and oversee the entirety of the agency’s design output across all media. In the newly-created role, he’ll also be responsible for the development and direction of GREY London’s design department.
Nils Leonard says: “Grey London is about world class talent, and Steve is up there. He shares our vision to create not just ads, but popular culture and he'll take our aesthetic thinking to the next level.”
Steve Davies adds: “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved at Saatchi & Saatchi in regard to building a great design department, but Grey is clearly an agency on the up and this was an easy decision to make. They’ve got a fantastic roster of clients – clients you wouldn’t have expected them to have five years ago – and are already producing some really high-quality stuff. I’m looking forward to building up the department and taking that even further.”
Davies has more than 15 years’ experience, having started his career with Ogilvy & Mather before holding senior design roles at Leagas Delaney, AMV BBDO and BMB, where he was Head of Design. As well as three years as Design Director at Saatchi & Saatchi, he also helped launch – and headed-up – its fully integrated design agency, Eighty.
He has produced award-winning work for clients including Guinness, Toyota, Lucozade, COI and Samaritans, and has received various D&AD, Creative Circle and Campaign Press and Poster Awards. He was also commissioned to design the cover for Martin Amis’ Money, which was featured in British Design 1948-2012 at the V&A Museum. He starts on 29 October.
