Frank Collective Relocates NY Office to Brooklyn's Industry City

Agency leaves DUMBO for the fast growing media and production hub in Sunset Park
Branding and content agency Frank Collective is moving its New York office to Industry City, the 16-building, 6 million square-foot manufacturing and innovation complex on the waterfront in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
 
The firm, which also has an office in Los Angeles, is relocating from 20 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to an approximately 10,000 square-foot space in Industry City. The space, located at 253 36th Street, Floor 4, will house approximately 30 employees when fully activated in April.

“When we started Frank Collective in DUMBO, Brooklyn we loved the pioneering, community atmosphere that was there. As DUMBO has grown, we miss a bit of that. So, we were excited to find it again in Industry City. It feels the next creative hub with a momentum that matches our own and a place to grow even further. We’re beyond thrilled to have a much-needed bigger space, put down roots, and be surrounded by other creative shops and the awesome amenities,” said Jiffy Iuen, founder and CEO of Frank Collective.


“We are excited to welcome Frank Collective to the growing cluster of media and production firms here at Industry City,” said Kathe Chase, director of leasing at Industry City. “With our diverse food scene, dynamic public art activations, and wide-ranging programming, Industry City provides a dynamic workplace environment for creative firms like Frank Collective.”

Joseph Sipala, Whitten Morris, and Zachary Talve of Newmark represented Frank Collective in the 11-year deal. Matthew Stewart of Industry City’s internal leasing team represented Industry City. Rents at Industry City range from $15 to $45 per square foot.


“After touring throughout Brooklyn, Frank Collective found the perfect home at Industry City. The space allows them to grow their business within an inspiring and engaging work environment while also taking advantage of significant costs savings.  We are very excited to see their new space, which features their own dedicated elevator, excellent light and views, and identity within the Industry City campus,” said Joseph Sipala of Newmark.
  
At Industry City, Frank Collective will be surrounded by a vibrant ecosystem of creative media and production companies. These include Buck, an international full-service production and animation studio; 30 Ninjas, a VR/AR/live stream company; ?What If!, an innovation consulting company; and BSE Global, a developer and operator of state-of-the-art venues and manager of premier sports franchises. Conde Nast and Serious Eats also have kitchen studios at the innovation hub, and Essence Magazine will move its headquarters to the property later this year.

The strategic redevelopment of Industry City—launched in 2013 by Belvedere Capital and Jamestown—has generated significant leasing activity and job creation. Over the past five years, Industry City has invested more than $400 million into the property and leased more than 3 million square feet of space, including 1 million square feet of manufacturing space—its highest level in decades. Throughout this period, businesses based at the property have collectively grown by an average of 100 jobs per month, more than tripling from 1,900 jobs in 2013 to 7,500 jobs today.
 
Industry City is accessible by the D, N, R trains at 36th Street, one express stop from Atlantic Terminal and two from Manhattan.
