Follow the Unique Life of a Ghanaian Boarding School in New Originals Teaser 'Mathlete'

The New Originals SS22 Campaign brand film 'Mathlete' starring Emmanuel Wilberforce, portrays the unique life of teenagers at a Ghanian boarding school. It acts as a trailer for the short film in which SMUGGLER director Ebeneza Blanche explores his own personal experience of being sent to boarding school in Ghana having grown up in the west.

Infused with Ebeneza's signature storytelling and visual style, the SS22 collection from TNO plays an integral role in the representation of authenticity and tone which was expertly styled by Lawrie Abei and beautifully shot by cinematographer Sam Meyer.

With Elizabeth Doonan as executive producer and Luca Chapman as producer from SMUGGLER working closely with the TNO creatives, the crew and the amazing locally cast actors we see Ebeneza’s vision come to life.

“Being a troublesome teenager raised partly in the western world, my mother always said to me ‘Keep on and I'll send you off to Ghana as punishment’. Fast forward and I find myself in Ghana attending boarding school. My experience there was immensely disciplinary and I found it hard to fit in. The surroundings, language and culture were very different from what I was used to. This project was an opportunity for me to shine a light on my experience in the school system in Ghana.” - Ebeneza Blanche, director.
