The Effies and the European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) have announced the finalists for its 2022 Effie Awards Europe competition. Effie Europe have been honouring the most effective marketing ideas in Europe since 1996. This year, the Positive Change categories picked up the most shortlisted entries as brands get recognized for contributing to society by promoting social and environmental good through marketing communications.

Among the finalists, 43 were shortlisted in the general competition and 37 in the Best of Europe track. Charley Stoney, CEO, IAPI said “The finalists come from a range of talented world-class agencies and IAPI is extremely proud to witness some of Ireland’s leading agencies and 2021 Effie Awards Ireland Gold recipients making it to the 2022 Effie Awards Europe shortlist. One of the reasons we became an Effie partner was to expose Irish agencies and marketers to an internationally recognised benchmark of excellence and we’re thrilled to see Ireland take its place on this stage.”

The Irish agencies and campaigns on the shortlist this year are:

“We are absolutely delighted to see two of our campaigns shortlisted amongst the most effective campaigns in Europe.  This is a great tribute to the collaboration and ambition of the teams in Three, ŠKODA, Boys+Girls and our media partners Core & Phd to develop and deliver campaigns that result in great business outcomes for the brands we work with. Effectiveness is vital in raising the profile of marketing and advertising within the C -Suite and ensuring that it’s rightfully seen as a key driver for business. We’re delighted to see our work for our clients recognised globally as being amongst the very best and we’ll continue to push to prove that great work works’” says Margaret Gilsenan, chief strategy officer and founder, Boys+Girls

Speaking on the announcement, Seán Hynes, creative director and co-founder at Bonfire said, “We’re all on cloud nine here at Bonfire on hearing the news. Or as they might say in this particular corner of Europe, we’re super delira and excira. We’re especially proud that the recognition is for work we have done on behalf of ALONE, which is such an amazing organisation.  Another feather in the cap for independent Irish agencies!”

Roisin Keown, ECD, The Brill Building said, “To have one EFFIE shortlist in Best of Europe for The Shop That Nearly Wasn't would have been an honour - to have achieved two for one campaign is amazing! We're really thrilled for everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. Our bespoke consumer-first approach to brand is what inspired the big idea for this work. Achieving big and positive change for our clients with creative thinking that makes any budget impactful is a great endorsement of everything we're doing at The Brill Building, so it's especially sweet to be shortlisted in Positive Change and Small Budget. Thank you to Breakthrough Cancer Research for trusting us with their brand and the stories of the survivors their research helps make, and to all the amazing inter-agency partners who delivered this innovation."

The judging process will kick off next month to select the most effective, impactful work of the year that will serve as a benchmark for the path forward. The winners will be announced during the free-to-attend virtual Effie Europe Awards Celebration on 30th November.

The Effie Awards Europe is organised by the European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) in partnership with Google, The European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA), The European Publishers’ Council (EPC), Adforum.com & Viva Xpress Logistics.
